A GP at our local practice checked my lungs and thought the left lung had significant fluid.
She seemed very concerned and, checking other things, found my pulse high at 117bpm; blood pressure was fine. She was particularly concerned by my wan complexion and panting which had now become triggered by a short walk or putting on a coat. At rest I was still comfortable and controlling the other slight pains/headaches with the usual drugs. She immediately referred me to the A&E Unit at the Royal United Bath Hospital with accompanying letter.
